Juilliard Black Alumni Association - JBAA
Purpose, Mission, & History
In collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations since 2020, the Juilliard Black Alumni Association (JBAA) was founded in 2020 and was formalized as a Juilliard alumni group in 2023 with a mission to create a long-standing interdependent relationship by promoting the welfare of the community’s dance, drama, and music divisions. The JBAA will provide a bridge between Black students, faculty, and administration by providing resources, advisement, and mentorship. The JBAA will work to raise money for scholarships and project grants given to students throughout the academic year and summer, as well as to help organize recruitment/headhunter days on campus throughout the school year. Mentorship resources will consist of JBAA members serving as mentors for Black students (as part of the JBAA mentorship program) but also to support fellow Black alumni through networking and job opportunities. Through its mission and purpose, the JBAA will enrich the health of Juilliard by addressing long-standing needs and demands of not only the Black community on campus, but the entire student, faculty, and administrative bodies. We firmly believe that our mission will attract prospective Black students to the school, especially once they see an established association of Black graduates who can serve as an invaluable resource to them.
